| ♦ 685-694. “tisso imā, bhikkhave, esanā. katamā tisso? kāmesanā, bhavesanā, brahmacariyesanā — imā kho, bhikkhave, tisso esanā. |
1) ... 2) -- Này các Tỷ-kheo, có ba tầm cầu này. Thế nào là ba ? Dục tầm cầu, hữu tầm cầu, Phạm hạnh tầm cầu. Những pháp này, này các Tỷ-kheo, là ba tầm cầu. |
1-2) — “Bhikkhus, there are these three searches. What three? The search for sensual pleasure, the search for existence, the search for a holy life. These are the three searches. [247] |
| imāsaṃ kho, bhikkhave, tissannaṃ esanānaṃ abhiññāya pariññāya parikkhayāya pahānāya cattāro sammappadhānā bhāvetabbā. katame cattāro? | 3) Ðể thắng tri, liễu tri, đoạn diệt, đoạn tận ba tầm cầu này, này các Tỷ-kheo, bốn chánh cần này cần phải tu tập. Thế nào là bốn ? |
The four right strivings are to be developed for direct knowledge of these three searches, for the full understanding of them, for their utter destruction, for their abandoning. “What four? |
| idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu anuppannānaṃ ... pe ... uppannānaṃ kusalānaṃ dhammānaṃ ṭhitiyā asammosāya bhiyyobhāvāya vepullāya bhāvanāya pāripūriyā chandaṃ janeti vāyamati vīriyaṃ ārabhati cittaṃ paggaṇhāti padahati. | 4-7) Ở đây, này các Tỷ-kheo, Tỷ-kheo đối với các ác, bất thiện pháp chưa sanh...; đối với các thiện pháp đã sanh, khởi lên ý muốn làm cho an trú, không cho vong thất, làm cho tăng trưởng, làm cho quảng đại, tu tập, làm cho sung mãn, tinh cần, tinh tấn, quyết tâm, cố gắng. | 4-7) Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu generates desire for the nonarising of unarisen evil unwholesome states … for the maintenance of arisen wholesome states, for their nondecay, increase, expansion, and fulfilment by development; he makes an effort, arouses energy, applies his mind, and strives. |
